X Movement

We were thrilled to have the X Movement team at our school. Our kindergarten students participated in an interactive dance experience and also celebrated diversity and inclusion. Our families were also invited back for an evening to discover dance in an energizing and inspiring way. We all have unique characteristics and remember “you are Xtra awesome!”

We Stand With You

Our school wore their jerseys to school to show support for the Humboldt Broncos team, families and community. We also placed a hockey stick and candle outside our classroom door. We are thinking of you Humboldt!

International Day of Pink

April 11th marked the International Day of Pink. It is a day where communities across the country and across the world, can unite in celebrating diversity and to raise awareness to stop all forms of bullying. We all wore pink to symbolize standing against bullying. We read the story “Don’t Be a Bully, Billy” and wrote about a time where we were bullied or stood up to a bully. We talked about how we felt when we were bullied (lonely, sad or scared)and how we felt when we stood up to a bully (happy, strong, good).

Light It Up Blue for World Autism Day

We all wore the colour blue to support World Autism Day. We watched the Sesame Street show about Julia a little girl who has autism. Julia has bright orange hair and big green eyes and is friends with Elmo and Abby. Her friends are introducing her to Big Bird. Big Bird learns that Julia likes him and she has autism which sometimes takes her longer to do things. She also sometimes needs to take a break. We decorated a class puzzle piece along with all Fieldcrest classes showing our differences. These all are on display upstairs and joined to make a large school puzzle. We chose to decorate our puzzle with our favourite colours.

Opening Day: Blue Jays First Game

We have been counting down the days until the Toronto Blue Jays opening game and we are excited it has arrived. We wore blue to show our support and excitement. We have been removing a number each day and our chart was empty so we held up the number zero. Now we will begin tallying the Jays’ wins and losses. We have been working on tally marks and know that they come in groups of five. The children have had great fun asking their friends such questions as, “Do you like muffins?” or “Do you like pickles?”, etc. We are hoping we see more tally marks under the Jays’ wins! Go Jays Go!
