We made latkes (Potato Pancakes) in our class for Hanukkah. We all had a turn grating and peeling the potatoes, mixing the ingredients and frying the latkes in hot oil.  Thank you to our parent volunteers for helping us cook the latkes and sharing books about Hanukkah.  We also played the dreidel game and learned what the Hebrew letters stand for on the dreidel.

  Tiny arrived from the North Pole and loves being a part of the Mrs. T and Mrs. McLeod’s Kindergarten Class family. This little elf arrives from the North Pole every morning to scout for Santa.  We are careful to be on our best behavior that way Santa will be sure to get lots of good reports.  

In class we have been exploring 2D shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, etc.) We have been naming, sorting and describing them. (# of sides and corners) We have also been recognizing similar shapes in real things we see around us.  To help with this at home, you might find it fun to set up a shape search.  You can say, “Let’s make today circle day. Let’s find and write down everything we see that is shaped like a circle.”  You can change to a different shape another day or  you might play “I Spy,” taking turns describing things by shape and size.
